Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi is an Indian soap opera , which airs on Colors TV. The show is produced by Ekta Kapoor under the banner Balaji Telefilms. The show stars Shakti Arora and Radhika Madan as the protagonists. The tune of the song "Tum Hi Ho" from the movie Aashiqui 2 was acquired by Kapoor as the tune of the show.The show also marks the comeback of Gauri Pradhan Tejwani to television after five years.

Set in present-day Mumbai, the show presents the story of Ranveer, the son of a driver and Ishaani, the daughter of a rich businessman and employer of Ranveer and his family. Ranveer is forced to play matchmaker between Ishaani, the girl he loves, and Chirag, the man her family want her married.

Although Ranveer is deeply in love with his childhood friend Ishani, he realizes the impossibility of her reciprocating her love, because he is a servant, and so decides that Chirag is the perfect man for her to spend her life with. Despite Ishaani's horrible first impression of Chirag as a cocky and self-absorbed man, Ranveer helps Chirag woo her and make her fall in love with him, by guiding him and advising on what to say to impress Ishaani based on his own experiences. Ishaani ends up falling in love not with the real Chirag, but with the image Ranveer has created for her, the image that is actually Ranveer with the face of Chirag. However, he later discovers that Chirag is in fact a cheat, and is not only lying and doesn't love Ishaani, but is only marrying her for money. He confronts Chirag on his truth, and they both challenge each other, the former saying that he can make Ishaani hate him like he made her love him, and the latter taunting him, and saying he knows how much he loves Ishaani but that he is a mere servant. Chirag manages to use Ishaani's sister Disha to trap Ranveer. She falsely accuses him of assaulting her, in front of the whole family, as revenge for Ishaani marrying Chirag and ignoring his love.[5] Ishaani, shocked at this, makes Ranveer swear that this is all a lie, and he has no feelings whatsoever for her. He says he cannot swear in front of God, and confesses that it's true that he loves her. Ishaani's family mistake Ranveer's intentions, and kick his whole family out on the streets. Ranveer, furious at being played, betrayed, and misunderstood, and seeing Ishaani and Chirag celebrate Ganpati together, promises he'll celebrate this same festival in the very Parekh house he was kicked out of.

A two year leap occurs, and the fates have switched. The once poor Ranveer returns as a rich businessman, and the death of Ishaani's father leaves the whole Parekh family homeless and poor. Ishaani must now work a job for money, and upon having someone buy out their old home, which ends up being Ranveer himself, fight for custody over her old house and her father's money. Still being engaged to Chirag, who in her eyes is still the love of her life, Ishaani is unaware of his true intentions and the fact that the reason he has held out for so long is that his family is also broke, and he is waiting for Ishaani to win back her property to marry her. Ranveer is still in love with Ishaani, and to stay close to her, buys her old house and the company she works in. To confront her boss on money she had stolen earlier to support her family, Ishaani walks in to find Ranveer as her new boss, and is shocked to see him so changed in two years. She realises the initials R.V. stand for Ranveer Vaghela, and also realises he is also the man who bought her house. Mistaking his actions for revenge on her family, she attempts to resign, but is blackmailed by Ranveer to work for him as she owes him the money she stole. Thus begins the love-hate saga of Ishaani and Ranveer, the former hating him, and the latter still in love as he was before.

Ranveer's discovery that Ishaani still plans on marrying Chirag causes him to furiously declare to his mother that he is ready to get married, and that only the best woman will do. Amba, delighted that Ranveer is moving on from Ishaani, decides on businessman Javeri's daughter Ritika. The two former best friends are now engaged - not to each other but to different people.

Chirag knows that Ishani has lost her money as Ishaani ends up losing her court case and he got affair with her ex-girlfriend Shanailla and as a result Chirag abandons Ishani on her wedding day. Coincidentally, Ranveer is getting married to Ritika that same day; Ritika sensing Ranveer's apprehension realises that the only person he'll be happy with is Ishaani, the only woman he's ever loved, and tells him to go marry Ishaani instead of her.[6] In a series of twists, Ranveer and Ishani get married. Even though initially Ishaani hated Ranveer and accused him of making her lose the case so he could have her and not Chirag, his respect for her family, and the love and care he showed changed her feelings for him. Ishaani tries to make up for her mistakes by caring for him as well. Their relationship returns to the playful, and trusting one they had as young adults.

Chirag attempts at turning Ishaani against Ranveer by accusing him of killing her father, taking her to his house and attempting to rape her as well. Managing to escape, Ishaani realises her love for Ranveer, and that the person she thought she loved this whole time was not Chirag, but her best friend Ranveer. Chirag sends Ranveer fake, intimate pictures of Chirag and Ishaani, making him lose his trust in her, and his love replaced by hate and anger.[7] Ishaani, now the one in love, tries everything to make him believe her, and win back her love. Ranveer, who still helplessly loves her, realises that Ishaani did not betray him, and does truly love him; before Ishaani could divorce him as she believed that is what he wanted the most from her, he confesses his love for her and promises to give her the love she deserves. Unfortunately, Amba, Ranveer's mother, who hates Ishaani and believes she is nothing but bad for her son, and Baa, Ishaani's grandmother who believes Amba will not let her granddaughter stay with them and a swift divorce is best, want Ishaani and Ranveer to separate. The lovers decide to pretend to feud in front of their families to get them to accept them, but love each other in private.

Ranveer and Ishani Had tried taking their vows again in the garden, whilst burning the divorce paper and doing their 7 nuptial rounds. Ranveers Mum( Amba) had caught them as well as Ishani's Baa. They find an excuse and Baa takes Ishani back.

Ranveer and Ishaani had taken 'Ulteh Pere',but meanwhile Ranveer's mother and Ishaani's Baa see them doing that and they take them away

On Valentine's day, Ishaani challenges Ranveer to celebrate valentine's in front of her and Ranveer's parents. Ranveer lies to Amba saying that we will pretend to like Ishaani so we will not be seen as the "BAD" ones. Ranveer and Ishaani celebrate valentines. They go on a date 2 days after but Chirag tries to kill Ranveer and fails. Ishaani gets worried and Ranveer says nothing will happen to him.

After Valetines Day, it is soon time for Hrithika(Daughter of a family friend) and Sharman(Ishani's cousin) to have their engagement.A sudden twist occurs. Hrithika finds out she is pregnant from a recent blood test, whilst speaking to her father about the fact she is pregnant, Sharman over hears the conversation. He doubts Hrithika and falsely accuses her in front of everyone.She states it is HIS baby, and it all happened when he was drunk.Not believing her Sharman asks her to leave. The next day, she comes home. Her father is very weak. He gets a pain in his heart. After calling the ambulance, it soon shows that it was too late.

The same thing happens, involving Chirag. He calls Ishani again saying that Ranveer will die. Hastily, she picks up her phone and warns him. He doubts anything will happen to him and thinks it was all a joke. Whilst on his way to a meeting, he notices a body on the road. He attempts to help and roll over the body. Unknowingly, it was Chirag himself. They had agreat fight. In the end, RV kicks Chirag down a steep hill. He was still alive though.

Ranveer goes with a car to Mumbai. He goes straight home, Parul(his cousin) says that Amba and Kailash are in Jail. They had been falsely accused. While arranging a lawyer at the police station, Ishani is nowhere to be found. Then Ranveer reaches the Police station and immediately asks the police to get his parents out of the jail as they are innocent. The police said they cannot as there is valid evidence( which baa brought in) and unless they have proof they cannot be bailed. Phalguni( ishani's mother) says she has a recording of baa saying: "I just went to the police. I lied about Amba and Kailash and said they were domestically abusing Ishani". The police release Both of Ranveers Parents.

Ishani had gone to save Ranveer from Chirag. She finds his license plate on the road. Soon she finds Chirag- dead. Ranveer watch, blood and torn clothes had been there. She hides all the evidence and puts in some of her bangles and a cloth from her sari, so it seems like she did it. Ishani finds her way to the police station. She files a complaint saying that Ranveer killed Chirag. Ranveer was shocked. The police did a search. Seeing all the evidence the convicted and arrested Ishani. Ishani lies and says she never loved Ranveer and killed Chirag as a crime of passion. Ishani is on death row.

The show takes a six month leap.

It gets closer to Ishani's hanging, Hrithika is 8 months pregnant. Ranveer and Hrithika are together however are not married. Ishani is still in Ranveers mind. As her death gets closer and closer, a friend of Ishani who is an officer, knew that Ishani was innocent. Not telling Ishani, she was looking for a appeal.

Shikhar Mehta, Ishani's criminal lawyer, made a deal with the judge- if he won the case, he would get to date his daughter. Shikhar goes to an MP and says that if he saves Ishani, his party would get more votes.

The second Ishani is being hanged, she is freed by the MP. She leaves jail happily as she was innocent. Looking for Ranveer, she went through the back door seeing Mala( a servant). Mala asks her to leave as Ranveer had great difficulty in forgetting her. She leaves, lookimg for her family. Ishani finds Devarsh( her cousin) in the market place. She pleads him to take her home but , she doesnt't trust him.

Later on, Ishani sees a lady trying to fight off some goons, she helps her. She offers to take Ishani home. Unknowingly, she is Shikhars Mother.

Shikhar sees Ishani and asks her what she was doing here. She explained. Shikhar was scared of Ishani as he thought she was a murderess. Shikhar's mother says that Ishani is very Innocent and simple and he shouldn't worry. Ishani changes her name to Nirupa Roy( an actress) as Ishani is a name that carries many bad memories.

After Ishani stays at Shikhar's place for a few days, they allow her to stay as long as she works at the NGO.Many times, again and again, Ishani and Ranveer are close but something interrupts them from seeing eachother. Shikhar gets more attracted to Ishani as days pass. Ranveer recommends him to propose to Ishani.

Ishani is about to be served with death penalty for the murder of Chirag, but laywer Shikhar comes as her guardian angel. Will he be able to save Ishani's life?
